Linzess Medication Information

Adults who have certain bowel problems may receive a drug called LinzessTM (linaclotide). Specifically, this drug is approved to treat irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) and chronic idiopathic constipation (long-term constipation with no known cause). Most people who take this product tolerate it well.

However, because Linzess is not suitable for everyone, it's important to review the safety information for this medication with your healthcare provider before starting treatment. For example, make sure your healthcare provider is aware of any other health issues you may have, such as a bowel obstruction or any allergies.

Linzess comes as a capsule that is taken once daily on an empty stomach, preferably 30 minutes before your first meal of the day. The specific dosage you receive will depend on the reason you are taking the drug and whether you develop side effects.
